Dying Fetus have spent the last thirteen years spreading their own mix of Death/Grind. Since day one Dying Fetus have done it themselves, working the underground through their own record label Blunt Force Records. They are hard working and have integrity, two traits that many bands these days don’t have. They have toured the world impressing many. Relapse took notice and inked Dying Fetus to a record deal. Soon after, Dying Fetus released one hell of a killer album "Destroy The Opposition". Every song blasts with speed, only to break into monstrous mosh pit anthems. The riffing is blistering, complex and technical, just listen to "Pissing In The Mainstream", and "Born in Sodom". While Kevin Talley’s drums pound your head with extreme grind tempos only to slow down to thrash out some hardcore beats. What sets Dying Fetus apart is the quality in the musicianship, and the dual vocal attack. Jason Netherton’s cookie monster barks can seem silly, but they add an extra heaviness to the overall music of Dying Fetus. John Gallagher’s backing vocals pierce through Jason’s vocals layering the extremity to make Dying Fetus one of the most premiere death metal acts alive today. The name Dying Fetus might sound awful and it hasn’t helped the band getting shows, but it does stick in people’s minds. You may think with such a name the bands lyrics would be sick, but that’s not the case. The message in their lyrics is about society’s injustices, governments, and to stand up for what you believe. "Fuck the system" is a statement that is written within their lyrics. After this release though the band as a whole went through some hellish times, as most of the band departed only to leave founding member John Gallagher to pick up the pieces. Which he did, and Dying Fetus has released since the split. Hopefully the break-up doesn’t hurt the sound of the mighty Dying Fetus.
