First off I have a big complaint about this promo copy from Nuclear Blast as Tobias Sammet keeps interrupting the music, speaking about the songs and the album in general. It makes it more difficult reviewing the album as a whole as you lose the flow of the music. Apart from that he doesn't add much either except annoyance. Getting that off my chest /pardon my whining/ you may want to know what "Hellfire Club" is all about. Let's get one thing clear first. This album sounds very Edguy as usual with melodic and heavy power metal and big pompous choruses. In some aspects this album marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Edguy history as they have parted ways with their old company AFM Records, for whom they released no less than five full-length albums, and now joined the metal giant No 1 - Nuclear Blast. This should be a step forward I think. "Hellfire Club" is also partly darker lyrically than most Edguy fans are used to I suppose, something that is already suggested by the title. Don't worry though, there are no major changes in the lyrics nor in the musicaly department as the album overall has a strong positive vibe. As Tobias Sammet keeps pointing out, and inbetween using the "f word" excessively, most songs are typical Edguy songs and fans will not be disappointed. Once again, as with most "big" bands, you know what you get. Either you're happy with it or you're not. No matter what, they know what they're doing and they're doing it very well indeed.
