REVIEW: Ektomorf - Destroy Nuclear Blast, 2004
5.5/10
Ektomorf - Destroy - cover art Hungarian band Ektomorf are obviously huge fans of Cavalera/Sepultura/Soulfly. Or at least that's what this sounds like (Chaos AD – Roots). This is a decent record, neat production, nice vocals, nothing to complain about there. This does however not reach all the way for a few reasons. The first is that they do not manage to get their uniqueness through, and the second is that this record becomes slightly boring after a while. It simply does not hit you the way it could. This music needs to feel like a punch to the face, and they start off great, but lose as the album goes on. Ektomorf, founded by the Farkas brothers, however show promise for the future. By refining their own style, and improving their song writing skills they can reach quite far. At the moment it sounds like Max Cavalera on a bad day, which is not all that great. I'm looking forward to seeing what they deliver in the future. If they can get their energy through and find their own uniqueness this could end up great.
