Eldritch is one of the few Italian progressive / power metal bands who have been able to separate themselves from the huge mass of anonymous acts that this country has produced during the 1990s. Step by step they have distinguished themselves with personal song writing and a very versatile singer named Terence Holler has certainly put his fingerprint on every single Eldritch album. "Neighbourhell" is the sixth studio release from the band and it once again showcases the close to magical atmosphere between Holler and guitarist Eugene Simone who are the only remaining members from the original 1991 line-up. One of the greatest strengths of Eldritch is their desire to defy genre definitions. Even though staying firmly rooted in the European prog / power metal scene they do not shun elements from more traditional heavy metal or even thrash metal. Combining all these various influences they have completed the backbone for their musical creation and on top of this memorable song writing secures this disc several future spins in the CD player. Out of an overpopulated Italian metal scene, Eldritch is one of a handful bands that you need to know. "Neightbourhell" is an excellent way to celebrate 15 years of hard work.
