REVIEW: Ellipsis - Comastory Adipocere Records, 2003
2/10
Ellipsis - Comastory - cover art I tried to enter the website of this band the other day. It was all in French. I am not very good at French, so as you may imagine, I didn't understand much. The reason I tried to enter the sight was because I thought that I had missed something. This band writes in their booklet that they're psycho and very innovative and progressive, and I've tried in vain to see where? Do they call it progressive because they think that it's hard to play the few riffs that they have in each song? Because most of these riffs are the most boring I have ever heard. They make me want to slam my head into a wall in total despair! Maybe I've missed something, or maybe this just sucks. I'm inclined to believe in the second alternative. This time there's nothing wrong with the production. It's everything else that lacks any kind of imagination and probably musical talent. What can I say, I guess you have to be psycho to release this kind of record. If I have to compare this shit, which I'd rather not, because it would be an insult to all the bands that exist, I would say that the music is some sort of nu-metal (think Kittie och Sugacoma or something else that completely sucks) combined with power metal singing. It might sound exciting but I assure you that it's not. Plus I almost got a heart attack. All of a sudden in the middle track 6 (Evil) someone started growling! That was of course the highlight of the cd, but it was completely taken out of the context. And the vocals are sometimes so out of tune that every hair on my body curls. I don't understand how these people actually could get a record deal. I don't understand how they managed to release any albums (this is not the first). No-one can be interested in hearing this except for maybe their friends that just do it to be nice. I've barely had the energy to listen to this cd even once. I feel sick, I feel like I'm going to throw up. I can think of a lot of sadistic things I can torture myself with rather than listening to this again. One thing would be plucking every hair on my head, one by one, until I'm bald. I'm not going to bore you any further with details. If you ever get your hands on this cd by mistake, throw it away before you get infected with some sort of disease!
