REVIEW: Elvira Madigan - Witches - Salem (1692 vs. 2001) Black Lodge Records, 2003
3/10
Elvira Madigan - Witches - Salem (1692 vs. 2001) - cover art The first 3 tracks are twisted together with synth and guitars combined with the drums beating in the rhythm as it always shall. Finally the vocals begin in the 3rd track named "Lilliannah - Demonologi För Dömda" and I must say the sound of it all gets worse when it starts and the vocals are presumably the worst I've ever heard? I don´t like the whole being of this group, there is too much of synth and guitar solos, and even the desperate tries to make an environment for the listener that is scary fail. Now when I listen to the vocals and all I think that they are trying to sound like Cradle Of Filth with just a touch of more guitars. But that is a failure, they may be near an early creation of Cradle Of Filth but that is also everything!!! This is not good. When I have read a little about this band I realize that this is a one man band. And I think that he who lies behind all of this should have some band members to refresh his ideas together with or something. He needs to dig himself out of this hole! But I most give a little credit for "Kvinnorovet" which is pretty good, just maybe a little slow?! "Häxor, Maror Och Vittror" is a good song too by the way, it has its charm in some way but the solo is unnecessary I think. Sometimes it´s better to leave those parts behind and this one is too long for my taste. But there is probably someone or something that like this album / group more than I do.
