REVIEW: Empyrium - Weiland Prophecy Productions, 2002
8/10
Empyrium - Weiland - cover art Do you think I am only going to review metal at this website? Then you couldn't be more wrong in this case because Empyrium is as far from metal or even rock that you could possibly come. This album consists of dark orchestral music with only classical instruments like violin, piano and acoustic guitar which gives it a very dark peculiar atmosphere thanks to the composer skills of band leader Ulf Theodor Schwadorf. The release of the band's debut album "A Wintersunset" in 1996 was actually the reason for founding the label Prophecy Productions in the first place and since then the label has grown to become one of the leading ones as it comes to dealing with avantgarde music. Inspired by mother nature herself Schwadorf has combined his love for romantic feelings, love and tragedy with his musical skills to create one of the most impressive and unique recordings that the world will ever see in 2002. Wonderfully melancholic melodies and opera vocals are some other important elements in this tribute to nature romanticism. It has been three years since the last release from the band but fans of Empyrium will surely be satisfied with the result despite the long wait. This is unique and exciting, that's one thing for sure.
