REVIEW: End Of Green - Dead End Dreaming Silverdust Records, 2005
7.5/10
End Of Green - Dead End Dreaming - cover art "Dead End Dreaming", the fourth full-length album from German gothic rockers End Of Green, is another powerful production leaving the Mastersound studio from Atrocity frontman Alexander Krull. Yet again the band guide the listener through gloomy visions of inner deamons and the road leads to self destruction. It is beautifully epic and songs such as "Dead End Hero" and "Cure My Pain" will help solidify the band's position as one of the leading gothic bands in Germany and Europe as a whole. Frontman Michael Huber switches between raspy rock vocals á la Sentenced's Ville Laihiala and a darker Pete Steele voice. Luckily the Pete Steele thing is not very frequent because it sounds a little stupid. "Dead End Dreaming" is a very sombre and joyless album, nonetheless it possesses a certain beauty which is difficult to explain. It is a naked, personal and charming work of art that should please many dark souls worldwide. There is hope but only very little. Slightly uneven but a good, solid album with great vocals and a couple of hit songs.
