Swedish dirty hard rock that smells of gasoline and leather pants has become very successful lately with bands such as Hellacopters, Backyard Babies and Mustasch leading the pack. Enemies Swe is one of the upcomer bands who are now challenging the veterans for the position as the No 1 rock band in our country. They have already played live at several Swedish festivals and now they release their first single through the brand new label Plug Or Die. The single consists of only one of their own songs simply called "Enemy" and a cover version of Alice Cooper's classic "Is It My Body". It is very difficult to base an accurate opinion of a band from only one song but I'll do what I can. As musicians the band members are definitely capable of competing with the absolute elite in heavy rock 'n' roll but "Enemy" as a song is not strong enough, at least not in my opinion. It is however hard to tell what their debut full-length album will be like, I guess we will have to wait until August to pass a final judgment on Enemies Swe. Even though they have not manage to write a true radio hit the music is enjoyable and tight. If you're into faster paced stoner rock or Swedish bands such as Hellacopters and Mustasch then give them a try. "Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire." James Hetfield says it all.
