REVIEW: Enemynside - Let The Madness Begin... Temple Of Noise Records, 2003
6.5/10
Enemynside - Let The Madness Begin... - cover art Thrash metal was at one time considered the greatest thing to hit metal. The days of the “Big Four” made metal music an intense power in the music industry. The scene was then screaming for Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Each band then went in different directions, either becoming slower or just pure shit. According to me only Slayer was ever worth any attention. So this brings me to “Let the Madness begin. . .”, or should I call it an album that Metallica never released. The comparisons are right in your face. If you can’t pick them out, then you’ve never heard Metallica. Although Metallica was a lot harder. Enemynside deliver an energetic recording, and it is nice to go back in time remembering the days of 1986. The rhythms bounce around as the different inspirations leak out. The singer has a punk rock sound in his voice, and because of that it gives this album life that might not have been present if he sounded more gruff. I like heavier metal than this, or maybe it’s the fact that this sounds like it was recorded almost twenty years too late. If you like songs that you can sing along with, and bang your head to, then Enemynside might be what you’re looking for. “Scars” is the stand-out track for me, while “Hatestone” reeks of Slayer at the beginning.
