Entombed were one of the first death metal bands in the world to reach major success and their early albums were unique and groundbreaking, introducing the world to a new sound that would leave its mark into our days. "Uprising" shows the modern side of the band with all its pros and cons. You can still trace the old Entombed sound in this recording and the raw primal vocals are still there as well but they have now developed their sound not to make a u-turn in the musical evolution of the band. The band have strangely enough not lost much of their aggression even though they have been doing this for over ten years now. The rage and ferociousness is still apparent in their music but nowadays we are also in for some more experimental sounds such as influences from blues rock. This album is very bluesy and should therefore not only appeal to death metal bands but also those of you who enjoy blues rock and don't mind it a little rougher than usual. I don't think Motörhead fans should have a problem digesting this album. They have always had this kind of bluesy sound with them but it has now become more apparent. Even though the band has more or less ripped off Rage Against The Machine with their track "The Itch" this is a very good album and it's nice to see that the band has the guts to explore new territories without leaving their roots completely behind. "Uprising" follows the same path as their previous release and although it doesn't bring us anything really new it is a very solid album. Entombed is no longer death metal but death rock isn't that bad either.
