REVIEW: Eros Necropsique - Crises De Lucidite Adipocere Records, 2003
7/10
Eros Necropsique - Crises De Lucidite - cover art This album was to my knowledge originally meant to be released in 2001 but for some reason or another it has been delayed and re-recorded with a classical female singer. It was probably the right decision but it has of course also left a lot of fans waiting for a new release. They will be happy now though as the band are soon to release yet another album. Even though this is the third album from the band and I am a big fan of darkwave bands this is my first encounter with the French band. The band is centered around the poetic lyrics by band founder Olivier who also performs them vocally. This is the main problem I have with this band as he doesn't exactly have the most beautiful voice you could imagine. It sounds ok but nothing more and since I do not know much French the lyrics don't mean that much to me either. Musically Eros Necropsique are a decent band as far as darkwave goes and they have added some folky touches which remind me slightly of the Russian band Satarial. Other than that their music is more similar to bands such as Pazuzu and Raison D'Etre. A good album it is and it should appeal to fans of dark symphonic music in general. If the music of poetry exists this is it.
