This album marks a big step for this band and
show them in a very mature position. This metal is so good and progressive
too. The death vox is on the cleaner side. The addition of a clean singer on
"The River Flows Frozen" and "The Last One For Life" demonstrate an
evolution in their style. To confirm this, the first one is a kind of a ballad
with twelve strings partitions. The sophisticated compositions give a definite
prog edge to their music. Add to this a full spectrum of keyboards notes to
the entire sonic decor and you're in the right direction to understanding how
tasteful this opus is. Of course the back bone remains hard and well metered
in the drum and bass department. The production is more than perfect and the
sound is just awesome. All the good vibrations are there to delight your ears,
no problems! The guitars are simply great and efficient. The rhythm is heavy
and scratchy while the lead one, brilliant and intricate. "Aurora Borealis"
and "Prophetian" are two of my favorites pieces, (along with "The River
Flows Frozen" and "The Last One For Life" and...) fully dressed with the
above mentioned qualities and the keys are shinning everywhere. For those who
like it raw, this band is trowing in a rougher version of their talent in
"Fall Of A Man" just for your taste! The tempo on "A Virgin And A Whore"
is generally moderately fast without falling into the power range. The fastest
number is "Sick, Dirty And Mean", a devilish rendition of a classic from
Accept. This one is for you hard core metal fans! If you were like me,
uncertain about "Chaotic Beauty", their previous release, well this album
will make all this vanished in the air and I'm sure that all the metal lovers
would take pleasure in turning this Virgin into a
Whore...
