The German gothic metallers had one of the nicest album covers decorating their 2001 album "E-Mania". They continue to play on the female beauty (read: weakness of men) with "Tried & Failed" but this time it is likely to appeal more to devotees of Sappho than Marquis de Sade. Their 6th full-length album continues to build upon their current development, balancing melancholic melodies with emotional clean vocals and a nice balance between heavy guitars and the use of electronics. After an excellent and suitable intro where a female spoken word passage prepares the listener for what is to come it all takes off for real with the title track of the album which is the obvious hit song. "Tried & Failed" is actually such an excellent piece that the following twelve compositions tend to become one single anticlimax. Shame on him who gives up though. Both "Pine Oil Heaven" and "I'm Not Afraid (Of Losing You Again" are both strong and absorbing but they never manage to reach the same heights. Writing a potential club hit is not easy but Evereve hit the jackpot this time. For fans of Darkseed and Crematory in particular.
