Probably the most unique and outstanding band to ever sign with the progressively minded InsideOut label, Sweden's Evergrey have never been more popular than they are right now. Last year's DVD and this brand new album have both entered the national charts right away. To be honest much of their success, in similarity with most other pop(ular) bands, can be attributed to the singer and band leader Tom S. Englund whose charismatic stage presence and powerful voice has captured the female portion of the rock and metal community in particular. "Monday Morning Apocalypse" is the next logical chapter in the Evergrey story, focusing even more on the hit aspect of the songs, carried forth by memorable yet not necessarily conventional vocal lines. It is unfortunately becoming more and more apparent with each new album that this is a solo journey and even though Henrik Danhage's talents as a lead guitarist is not completely hidden it feels as if the band is slowly losing an important aspect of their overall sound. No need to worry that much yet because even though "Monday Morning Apocalypse" has been slightly overproduced it is not disappointing for anyone who have appreciated their previous works. The kind of success they are experiencing now they deserved two or three albums ago but unfortunately hard work never pays off for real until the people with power have discovered what you're doing.
