REVIEW: Ewigheim - Mord Nicht Ohne Grund Prophecy Productions, 2002
6.5/10
Ewigheim - Mord Nicht Ohne Grund - cover art Prophecy Productions is signing some very interesting and unique acts these days but the problem with most of them is that they will only appeal to a limited group of people. Either you love the bands or you loathe their music. This is the general way of things it seems but I seem to think a little different since I haven't really found any of their releases really bad as of yet. Ewigheim is a rather new German band that features members of Eisregen and The Vision Bleak. Macabre German lyrics, melancholic melodies, electronic samples, powerful industrial riffing and a gothic atmosphere will make all goers to Wave-Gotik-Treffen very happy. In other words this is a band whose music should appeal to fans of both metal and gothic music. Sometimes they sound a little like Rammstein but their music is less metal and more rock oriented with clean or distorted vocals all the way through. Ewigheim is a band that you should listen to in case you feel too happy for your own good because they will certainly bring you down. They do have some very interesting brave moves on display and I think they should continue to experiment with electronics and keep the German vocals because it suits their music very well. Songs like "Leiche Zur See" and "Ewigheim" will surely make you want more of these Germans. A solid debut album but I hope they will continue to develop their talents further in the future.
