REVIEW: F.O.B. - Blame? Self-financed, 2000
8/10
F.O.B. - Blame? - cover art This is the third demo tape from the Czech band F.O.B. and what a band this is! Sometimes you hear a band that is yet unsigned but who still manage to produce a lot better music than most acts with a record deal and this is one of those. With powerful death grunts, well-composed songs that never grow boring and a great production (on this level that is) F.O.B. has really impressed me with these five morbid songs from the mouth of hell. Eastern European bands do not get that much attention in Western media which is a pity because there are many great bands out there. Most of those who do get the attention are from the Polish death metal scene with Vader, Yattering and company but F.O.D. is perhaps even more interesting than these since they have more than sheer brutality. They have the ability to include many different influences and not only make straightforward death metal which is most clearly shown in the cool and groovy "Hypocrisy - Morgoth's Net Of Lies". A mix of Morbid Angel, Deicide and Slayer is what they sound like at times but this comparison doesn't really do them justice either. This is really a band worth checking out!
