Oh. My. God. This. Is. Bad. Really bad. I can see how this might have been considered a viable option 5-7 years ago, but now? No way. The easiest comparison that can be made is to think of Disturbed crashing into Sevendust while Godsmack looks on and maybe Creed, too, at least in terms of the lead guitar work.
It is veritably hard to believe that Dave "Junior" Ellefson is involved with this project. It must be true, though, because the sticker adorning the case says "File Under Megadeth: Featuring David Ellefson!" MegaDave would be mega-pissed to find out about this record so let's hope Bible study does not let out early....
Much of this album is competent, but only just. Originality is not found in considerable amounts here and much of it is quite disposable. The drumming is pretty good, as are the leads, and there are some interesting bass lines, which are high in the mix, but the vocals and wannabe pop-accessibility of F5 kill this.
Save your money and wait for Temple of Brutality if you need an Ellefson fix. Of course, I haven't heard that yet but it's got to be better than this. In one interrogative: "What the hell was Junior thinking?" Seriously. Did you see the cover tune selection? It is dreadful in all its Nü-Metalness.
