REVIEW: Face Down - The Will To Power Black Lodge, 2005
8/10
Face Down - The Will To Power - cover art Old Swedish act Face Down re-united including ex-Haunted vocalist Marco Aro? Sounds ok to me, even though I've never been a fan of Marco's before. This has however changed a bit now. I was really surprised by the massive leap forward taken by him since he sung in the Haunted. What he delivers here is way beyond his previous undertakings. More variation, and a whole lot of additional brute force. From mediocre to great in one album. Damn. Now comes the real question: Why? My theory is that the Haunted is a catastrophy when it comes to perverting vocalists. Now Dolving sounds like any hardcore vocalist, which is a shame, since he really had a personal style in the early Haunted. Well, whatever, back to the topic. Face Down deliver a hardcore-metal onslaught, well varied, but still relentless. Nothing really new, but this is a highly competent album. And my hat off to Marco Aro in particular.
