REVIEW: Faith Industrius - The Unborn Self-financed, 2005
6/10
Faith Industrius - The Unborn - cover art Faith Industrius is a Danish metal band that was created in 1997 by vocalist Rob Willey (ex-Zoltan) and bassist Peter Wolf Frandsen (ex-Detest). Three years later they were joined by former Iniquity lead guitarist Lars Friis and former Detest drummer Flemming Andersen. "The Unborn" is the band's fourth demo thus far and my first encounter with their music which is quite difficult to label and categorize, something that us reviewers are very interested in unlike many musicians but it does serve a purpose when it comes to informing the metal crowds of what kind of music they are likely to experience. The main foundation of the band's music appears to be heavy, churning, industrial rhythms which are accompanied by Rob Willeys vocals which range from loose death growls through nu-metal and metalcore to some kind of semi-clean singing. The final result is of decent quality and, albeit not exactly groundbreaking, so at least partly entertaining. The problem is that they come off as slightly chaotic and they don't seem to have found the perfect proportions between the different elements that make up their music. It's frustrating that I can not point out anything specific that could be done different in order for improvement to take place but in my opinion both song writing and the vocals are the weakest links in the band right now. A decent attempt but not quite distinct enough to separate themselves from the masses at this moment.
