Comin' from the wilds of Joisey are Fake H, an Emo/Hardcore band that draws as much influence from Life of Agony as they do the Deftones. This self-titled EP was produced by none other than Biohazard brothers Billy Graziadei and Danny Schuler at Billy's own Underground Sound studios and the sound is impressive, if not completely inspired. This is honest, a bit in your face, music that stays closer to the Emo side of the fence relative to the Hardcore vibe, but it is nothing like the current crop of multi-worded bands whose names include permutations and variations of one or both of these words: "bury" and "dead." Fake H is probably a force to be reckoned with in the live setting as the musicians are more than competent, but from this EP it is clear they need a bit of work in the studio and perhaps even the writing department. Upon listening to the final song offered here, it is ever so evident that the Deftones are a massive influence on Fake H, particularly in the vocal department. Not that there's really anything wrong with that....
