REVIEW: Falconer - Chapters From A Vale Forlorn Metal Blade Records, 2002
9/10
Falconer - Chapters From A Vale Forlorn - cover art The mastermind behind Mithotyn - Stefan Weinerhall - is back again with the second album from his new band Falconer. Together with his old bandmate Karsten Larsson and the amazing vocalist Mathias Blad they have once again created a masterpiece full of world class neoclassical heavy metal. This album is slightly heavier and also a little slower than the debut from last year but the beautiful melodies are luckily still there. The only thing I have to complain about is that I would like to see them incorporate a little more of medieval or folk music in their sound. I know that there are already some bands who do this but I think it would suit the music of Falconer very well. Once again the band took advantage of the sound wizard Andy LaRocque and his Los Angered Studio which results in a perfect production. Falconer is one of the most unique and innovative metal bands in the world and if you have a chance to check them out do so right away. They will also be playing at the Wacken Open Air this summer and probably also go on a European tour later this year. Stand-out tracks: "Enter The Glade", "We Sold Our Homesteads".
