The Fall Of Every Season is a one man band hailing from the throne-land of black metal, namely Norway. This is the debut release, a self-financed miniCD consisting of three songs which could be described as varied doom metal with influences ranging from Opeth to My Dying Bride or Anathema. The vocal work is the classic shift between growlings and clean lines, but despite that´s nothing original in these times, it´s very well done. I will remark the guitar work as the strongest point of the band: the melodies are really convincing and emotional, always trying to communicate the feelings of the author, and they scarcely become fillers or dull lines. Too bad the overall sound doesn´t match the effort put on the songs arrangement and composition: the drums are the evident flaw in the production of “Neglected´s Motif”, not only because they´re programmed, but due to the awful, imbalanced sound; cymbals are over the top of the mix most of the times, and I can hardly hear the bassdrum (sometimes you even wonder if there is any...). If the album production isn´t that good, the songs aren´t spoiled for that. Hopefully the tracks will be re-recorded in a full-length album and everyone will be able to see the real potential of this act, which I reckon as high. The band really deserves a chance, because the music hereby included is very good. The second track “Mere Wind Remained” is without a doubt the most inspired one. After hearing a debut demo most of the times you can´t see anything really worth; fortunately for us all, there are exceptions and The Fall Of Every Season is one of those. A band to watch out for the future, sure!
