REVIEW: Final Dawn - Under The Bleeding Sky New Aeon Media, 2004
7/10
Final Dawn - Under The Bleeding Sky - cover art Progression in death metal has seemed to hit a wall. There’s varying styles of death metal, with the brutal grinding death, to the melodic thrash death metal. Final Dawn would fit in with the later. But with added progressive melody’s that fill their sound to make this album interesting. That’s about all though. Once again another album is released and it brings nothing new to metal music. “Under the Bleeding Sky” is good, but not great. Instead of following where death metal is headed recently, Final Dawn root their sound to early death with the likes of At the Gates and Slayer, but staying true to their Finnish sound. “Under the Bleeding Sky” is energetic and well performed. For someone who hasn’t been initiated into the sometimes harsh realm of death metal, this would be a perfect starting point. The vocals aren’t over the top, and the music isn’t trying to alienate itself. Overall a solid effort and I’m positive that Final Dawn can only get better with each release.
