REVIEW: Flowing Tears - Serpentine Century Media, 2002
6.5/10
Flowing Tears - Serpentine - cover art These German band I've been following from their naive although decent debut on a small Italian label many years ago. "Serpentine" has become their 4th fullength, proving the band to become a more and more mainstream rockact than the typical gothic rockact. I must say their progression since the debut has been strong, topping it with "Jade" a few years back now. "Serpentine" is a rather low fueled release though, it's slow and melancholic and not as monumental and beautiful as the previous album, "Jade". It's clear that Stefanie, the female vocalist has grown as a singer, as here she can surely play on more strings than most other gothrock bands with female vocals. I feel the band to progress though, but without offering the audience much of excitement along the way. That is why "Serpentine" has become a album for me that won't represent much, due to a lack of strong material rather than anything else. It has it's sharp points, but unfortunately not enough to rate this a future remembered classic.
