London based Foe are probably not armed with clairvoyance but are in fact an instrumental trio made up of bass, baritone guitar, guitar and drums. When the music speaks for itself then why do you need another voice? The music of Foe does indeed speak for itself. Actually, it does not only speak but screams, shouts, crawls, climbs, dives, jumps, twists and turns as we are taken from one extreme to another. Fans of Dillinger Escape Plan and Dysrhythmia will fall in love with this British band right away I believe as this particular corner of extreme music is not very densely populated. Math metal, as it has become widely known, is a genre that requires a very high level of technical skills from the musicians and fortunately these guys know perfectly what they're doing. Odd time signatures is more of a rule than an exception here and you never know what is going to come next. There are melodies present in the chaos but they are crazy and bizarre. Foe let no boundaries stop their road towards musical and technical perfection. The only problem is that they're trying too hard to stay on the road. Perhaps they should let go a little and be unconventional by being conventional once in a while to add a little variety. The production is clear but rather dry. A solid album nonetheless.
