REVIEW: Fondlecorpse - Blood And Popcorn Razorback Records, 2007
8.5/10
Fondlecorpse - Blood And Popcorn - cover art With a brutal death metal style that is getting both extremely generic and moving in all the wrong directions, it's nice to find a band that can pull the style off while standing out in the crowd, and not having to include a breakdown to keep a loyal fanbase.

Fondlecorpse's Blood and Popcorn, may have an odd sounding name, but the album is far from odd. It's blistering kick-you-in-the-teeth death metal that just sounds brutal. The vocals are astonishing, not succumbing to the typical guttural, pig squeals and actually clear enough to be understood without a lyric sheet, with just enough distortion to make them sound properly pissed off. The drum work is simply astonishing and ranged, and the guitar work is excellently performed with incredible accompanying solos.

The release is only five songs long, but you'll have a hard time choosing just which one you like most. Chances are the disc won't leave your CD player for a good amount of time. While "Feral Mutant Attack" is a well restrained track, it doesn't make it any less brutal compared to the rest of the faster paced tracks, such as "Twice The Hate, Twice The Carnage!" And we cannot forget the tribute track to one of the greatest slasher films ever made, entitled "Halloween (The Night HE Came Home)," which has the band putting their own little spin on the "theme song" of the series.

Blood and Popcorn, is one brutal, horror-filled trip that any self-respecting metalhead will salivate over. Break out the masks and your favorite murder weapon once again for their latest release!
