REVIEW: Forever Slave - Resurrection Self-financed, 2004
8/10
Forever Slave - Resurrection - cover art Members from the Argentinian band Vampiria started off a project called Forever Slave, which is mainly a sweet, dark and melodic metal with very beautiful female vocals and a warm overall sound. Guitars are not very powerful - nor active in many cases – they mainly act as backup to everything else, but if analysed very closely some pearls are to be found here and there in the guitarrist's fingerwork. Not much display of technique to be heard but melodic passages, simple riffs and fills bind together nicely and form something surprisingly original. Songs are very well worked and have probably been polished over and over many times before they grew to become the finished tracks we get to hear on this CD. „Overture” and „Requiem” are very good creations, and they serve their goal as opening and closing tracks very nicely. I’m very happy to say that there isn’t a weakest song on the record and I enjoyed listening to every single track from the very beginning to the very end. Best track, in my opinion, is „Beyond Death’s Embrace”, but it would be unfair to neglect any of the other creations, because they are all very good. All thumbs up for production – and that goes for studio work too. The record would probably appeal to all those who like Nightwish-, Tiamat-, Gathering- etc. like vocals and usually serve their music in its gentler form spiced with exciting passages. Nice.
