REVIEW: Forever Until October - Forever Until October Copro Records, 2003
8/10
Forever Until October - Forever Until October - cover art Here's a little mind exercise: close your eyes, think you're all alone in the room and then try to think of a hardcore band that has very much emotion and power at the same time... not too easy, huh? That's because there are not many such bands out there. Forever Until October however defines the concept of emotional hardcore perfectly. Copro Records has a history of signing new and powerful acts, and this band is definitely qualified as one of the labels eminents. The recording of the self-entitled album was a painful process and, according to the bio sent by the label itself, it almost never saw the light of day. The preceeding "Perfect" EP had so much success, that the release of a full-length was impossible to avoid. Must've been hell to deal with all the stuff that was delaying (and thus diminishing) future success of the band! The sound is very clean and warm, distorted guitars have a unique and graceful sound and the vocals are very warm and pleasant as well. Though not agressive nor filled with buckets of adrenalin (the way I usually serve my music), the sound of FUO appealed to me immediately. It is so good that it doesn't even "fit" in the blasters - actually feels like it is going to pop out of there and hit you in the chest or something. Great stuff.

Production is definitely not to be neglected, as the guys recorded under the supervision of Martin Barbour (also associated with Fony and Vacant Stare), and I imagine he developed his producing skills on some other planet, as all bands he's worked with sound totally new and have an unbelievably fresh sound [there's a funny episode - recorded probably while in the studio - where he's giving some tips to Phil Darroch (vocals) on how he should go about on a certain passage]. Forever Until October is now on the verge of being propelled into the "Champions League" of music, and I'm sure that it's just a matter of time before they'll be kicking some very large asses out there. Just keep on rocking, guys!
