As you probably already know Fozzy is the metal band fronted by WWF wrestler Chris "Jericho" Irvine and features musicians from Stuck Mojo and Sick Speed. Having been a huge fan of 80s heavy metal for a long time, Chris filled his first two albums with cover versions of artists like Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P., Scorpions, Iron Maiden and Twisted Sister. "All The Remains" is the first album to feature all-original material from the American musicians. It became clear to everyone after the two first albums that Chris was an unusually gifted vocalist and he continues to be the strongest element in Fozzy. In the opening song "Nameless" he pushes his voice to its limits and this is a very powerful killer track. Now we are set and ready to herald this as one of the greatest contributions to modern metal?
Well, truth to be told, even if the opening track is great the quality of the following songs decline step by step and Chris especially resides to rather stereotypical emo rock or nu-metal vocals. Moving close to the bottom, Fozzy manage to pick up the pieces again and get back on their feet when reaching track number six, "It's A Lie", which is an incredibly heavy song with a powerful driving riff and an interesting guest appearance from Gold record selling rap artist Bone Crusher. Fozzy is much more entertaining than Chris' silly every-day profession (with an even sillier audience that might as well be placed in your American white trash talkshow of choice) but the quality of the material is rather uneven and further guest appearances from well-known guitarists Zakk Wylde and Marty Friedman doesn't help. "All That Remains" is a good album but considering the artists that have been covered before it might not be what the listener expected.
