REVIEW: Frame - Closer To The Myth Than Zero Perpetual Burn, 2003
7/10
Frame - Closer To The Myth Than Zero - cover art I was very impressed with the demo EP "A Loco Motive" from the Swedish band Frame when it was released last year and now they have recorded a full-length album on their own label Perpetual Burn. I can happily say was not wrong when I hailed their demo recording because this cd rocks just as much, if not more. The songs are well written and the whole album breathes with energy, something further accentuated by the mighty Vocalist Robert Westin who is doing his job very well. He is taking care of his voice also because he has been singing with the University choir in Gothenburg and also performed live at the Gothenburg Concert Hall with artists like Håkan Hagegård and the comedy ensemble "Galenskaparna". This means as much to most of you as a new pair of jeans to a dead man but if you live in Sweden you know who they are. Musically not much has changed and Frame continue lashing out good old stoner rock with a modern touch. Like many other bands in their genre they find themselves in a difficult position as they are not only on a level where a major label deal is unrealistic but also too much rock 'n roll for a metal label and too heavy for a rock label. That's a shame because Frame is a very good band. They are also serious about what they do as they have invested in a professional recording at the Triton studio. The only thing I have to complain about is that some songs are a little bit too similar to each other. If you like groovy, heavy rock / metal you can't go wrong with these guys so keep that name on your mind.
