REVIEW: Fuelhead - Fuelhead Plug Or Die, 2006
5.5/10
Fuelhead - Fuelhead - cover art Plug Or Die is a label specializing in 80s gasoline driven hard rock. One of the new promises they hope for right now is Fuelhead from Uddevalla on the Swedish west coast. Basic hard rock riffs set the atmosphere right for the party while a few heavier Zakk Wylde riffs will make the head shake. So far, so good, or at least decent because to be honest Fuelhead tend to leave little to the listener's imagination. With the right amount of alcohol in circulation in the blood this would probably work a lot better but I have not seen the point of diluting my scarlet while reviewing in the past and will most likely not keep a bottle of vodka next to the computer in the future either, not even to make my fellow Swedes a great favor. The vocalist Andréas Henemyr has a slight Layne Staley complex but luckily he stays true to himself for most of the duration of this album. Music needs to excite, challenge or at least move the listener in some way. Predictability and old-school nostalgia only works once in a thousand. Tepid, average, moderately interesting, pick your favorite. A new voalist and more diverse song writing is necessary for Fuelhead in my humble opinion.
