Created in the summer of 1997, the French Symphonic Melodic Death Metal band Furia blends styles as diverse as death, thrash, goth, black metal and symphonic / orchestral music. Their first full-length "A la Quête du Passé" was released in 2001 and two years later, their second full-length "Un Lac de Larmes et de Sang" was released. Their new album "Khéros" will be released in January of 2006 on Season of Mist. Their sound reminds me of the Danish band MERCENARY - atmospheric and bombastic. The EP starts with the song "Dogmas Fall" which is, in my opinion, the worst of them all. The guitar work is OK, nothing new or really impressive, but OK. The keyboards on this track don't fit the rest of the instruments, they sound kindo of annoying. The second track is "Anthem for Kheros". Better than the first one, this second track features good guitar solos and some keyboard melodies. The rhythm guitar riffs are ok, again reminding me of bands like Mercenary. The third track "Coma" is a lot better than the first two. The keys and guitar work is very good, making this track the best of the album in my opinion. The vocal performace is cool too as the harsh vocals fit well. They fit the mood of the music. The last track "Evil Spells Approval" is reasonable. The keys are sounding strange again, the guitar work acceptable, and the drum work also acceptable. But here, unfortunately, the vocals don't fit the mood of the music. They are very bad, actually.
