This Columbus, Ohio, based band has just signed a record deal with the independent American label Power Play Records so I guess they must have convinced some knowledgable individuals with their music. The promotion agency wants to describe their music as traditional / power metal but that is far from the truth in this case. Instead Further Lo indulges themselves in a diverse mixture where they take in influences from both classic metal bands like Anthrax and Slayer but also a bit of grunge á la Alice In Chains. The result is best labelled as nu-metal, modern heavy rock or aggro-metal. The clean vocals are very melodic and well balanced, creating a solid formation for the band to continue building upon. I am sure that this band will attract a loyal following in many corners of the world, especially the US and UK where this kind of semi-melancholic music has enjoyed a lot of success lately. The competition is tough but there is a certain amount of promise for the future in here. Although well performed it is very little that stands out as unique among these tracks and Further Lo can not be subtracted from the flock quite yet in my opinion. Might be worth checking out for fans of the genre nonetheless.
