REVIEW: Fury - Slavekind Self-financed, 2001
6.5/10
Fury - Slavekind - cover art Fury is an Australian band that performs some kind of metal that I don't quite know how to label. At least they have named their band very appropriately because this album consists of raging fury from beginning to end. Sometimes it sounds like grindcore, sometimes like thrash metal and sometimes like hardcore but the vocals are closer to death metal or brutal thrash metal. I like the energy and the powerful vocals that this band displays on these eight tracks but I would have liked to see a little more dynamic and structured music. When listening to the first couple of tracks I immediately come to like this band but when every single track thereafter follows the same pattern it gets a little monotonous, especially with the never-ending pounding of the drums. Don't get me wrong here, they do have a nice energetic and powerful sound but they have to become slightly more varied to hit it high in my book. Perhaps this will come to them in the near future and I sincerely hope so. The fifth track "Denying Fear" tells you that these guys are capable of so much more if they only dare to go there. A nice piece of furious music it still is and the production is very well done indeed. Stand-out tracks: "Denying Fear", "Lies".
