REVIEW: Gamma Ray - No World Order Metal-Is Records, 2001
9.5/10
Gamma Ray - No World Order - cover art Gamma Ray are now ready to strike again for the seventh time and the new album "No World Order" reveals a band who stays true to the spirit of metal unlike so many others these days. From the pompous opening through the wonderful "New World Order" and the heavenly chorus of "Damn The Machine" to the almost industrial sounding "Eagle" we are eternally spoiled with some of the most skilled musicians in the entire world. Part of me is very happy that Kai Hansen decided to leave Helloween once upon a time because I would not want to miss out on such an amazing album as "No World Order" actually is. Most pure power metal bands are rather boring in the long run but Gamma Ray has so much more to offer which is clearly shown on this cavalcade of heavy metal classics. There are not one single bad track on this album although I doubt anyone will remember "Solid", "Follow Me" or "Lake Of Tears" for very long. Except for these three tracks this album could hardly have been made any better by any mortal beings. The German metal maniacs still have their old heroes to look up to and Gamma Ray has once again risen to the sky like a radiant star in an endless night. Metal is still alive!
