REVIEW: Goat Horn - Storming The Gates October 32nd Records, 2003
7.5/10
Goat Horn - Storming The Gates - cover art It is always nice to hear a good singer, and in Goat Horn there is a really good one. What I first thought of this record was that it sounded weak, there was only one guitar and the drums were quite static. But when Jason Decay started singing, and not only play the bass, the music immediately became interesting. After some more spins in the stereo though, I began to really like the music too. It is very captivating and the sound is solid. It’s very good party-music that is made to be played loud. "Storming The Gates" offers a mix of heavy and thrash metal with great feeling. Melodic and, as stated above, very captivating. It is very retro and 20 years ago it would have been big. Nowadays I don’t think the scene is there in that extent. But for everyone with his or her heart in that decade this is a treasure. Goat Horn are groovy and energetic. They are into alcohol and with their music they are striving backwards. They have gained much positive judgements from the press and I agree that this is good music. I dig to this record in furor. But Goat Horn’s music is meant to be experienced live and headbanging and husky throats is what I believe Goat Horn deliver on stage. I hope that one day I could stand in front of the stage while they’re playing "The Last Force". "SECURE YOUR FAITH INSIDE THE LAST FORCE".
