Czech brutalizers Godless Truth here with their fourth album offer technical and brutal death metal. One of the first things that strike you when listening to this album is that the bass guitar really hits through. Trying to be a bassist myself I usually find this great. The thing is however that Tom the bassist doesn't hit all the notes to my liking. At times it's just a "boink" which sounds really out of place. As the bass keeps low it sounds just fine, but as it goes up playing high notes and/or scales it occasionally annoys rather than enhances the experience. Not good. One remedy is having a softer and heavier bass sound, which brings us to the production. It's not bad, but it surely could be a whole lot better as well. The record is also really short, not even reaching 29 minutes. Poor. The band however seems creative, and this combined with an excellent vocalist could indeed reach far. At this point I can't give the band more than a 6.5, but if they take the steps forward which I expect of them it will surely pay off, as with a better production their next album could kick a whole lot of ass. And please go for 40 minutes or so, not even lasting 29 minutes is weak. Calling this an album in fact feels weird, MCD is more suitable. Despite the complaints this band goes on my list for bands I'll look out for in the future. And Tom: Please restrain yourself, at least a little :)
