If Cannibal Corpse or Carcass isn't
sick and twisted enough for you then here is a new (well, formed in 1997...)
British band that may make you happy. Gorerotted has over the few years of
existance become one of the best known bands on the extreme metal scene, very
much due to the macabre lyrics which also show a sense of humor even if it's
not really my kind of it. The music is of course extreme death metal with some
very nice growling vocals that reminds me a little of what good ol' Carcass
used to sound like. Even if the lyrics are, in my humblemost opinion,
exceptionally bad and distasteful to say the least the music is a lot better.
As most of you probably already know this kind of music tends to get very
monotonous. Cannibal Corpse is a great band but their music easily grows
boring if you listen to it for a while. This is also the case with Gorerotted
but only occasionally since this album is full of interesting hooks and great
heavy riffs. It might not be the best album of the year but if you are into
extreme death metal and don't mind horror movie lyrics then this might be
worth checking out.
