REVIEW: Grave Digger - The Last Supper Nuclear Blast, 2005
8/10
Grave Digger - The Last Supper - cover art There are a few machines that just keep going, year out and year in, and one of those are Germany's power / heavy metal veterans Grave Digger. The new album "The Last Supper" follows the true Grave Digger style and it is wonderful to hear that Chris Boltendahl is still up to the task of providing his unique vocal touch on this recording as well. His raspy voice is full of power and authority and it does not take a genious to realize that he is extremely important to the band. Not only is he the only remaining founding member but he also makes a very charismatic front figure. It is impossible to mistake this album for being anything else but a Grave Digger album. This does not mean that they just keep repeating themselves. The songs are well crafted, the choruses are thought through and as a whole "The Last Supper" is a very complete album which has every necessary characteristic of becoming one of the power metal bestsellers in 2005. If you are a fan of either power or heavy metal you will not be disappointed, at least I was not.
