Debut release (earlier they have released the "CrosSection" demo under the name Crimson Sky) for the uprising band Grendel and by listening to the first notes I can understand that we have to do with an unknown, but of significant importance, group. The songs sound solid, well structured and harmonic. The first song "Broken Dream" is a small masterpiece. In the foreground are the epic heroic "wavy" vocals of Jarno Blom enhanced by the guitar riffs of Jussi Kraft and Mika Kivi, while in the background the other members (Kari Martikainen: bass, Juha Terrilä: keyboards, Jarkko Piipari:drums) support pretty well the main themes. They seem to have been influenced by many classical Heavy bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Accept, Sentenced and others but they have their own personal style. Then follows "In The End", which is a good sort of ballad, but the slightly mellow guitar solos in the middle make it a bit boring. The last track "Will This Ever Happen Again" is a nice, much faster, brisk, melodic song with guitar riffs like old Sentenced style. In general Grendel on "Broken Dreams" unfold modestly and without exaggerations and demonstrations their musical skills.
