Well, now this IS a
surprise. Yes I thought that HAEMORRHAGE did well
in
their split-CD with
DEPRESSION (Cudgel Agency www.cudgel.de ), but they
appear to have progressed
considerably from that release in a very
short
period of time. What we get
here is 36 minutes of extra solid "very
grinding
Death Metal" that is
played from the heart and hits you right in the
face
without making excuses
or asking for apologies. What really impressed
me
with those guys is the
songwriting ability that they possess. Many
bands of
that genre play in a
tight and aggressive maner, but many lack the
ability
to make their songs
sound interesting. (Actually many cannot even pass
the
stage of making
their songs sound remotely interesting to listen to).
So it
is with great
pleasure to find that they can have great songs all the
way
through to say
song number 8 (I am talking about the killer "Unlock The
Morgue"). Make no
mistake, these Spanish lads are rather special and I
bet
that they are
going to give a Cryptopsy a good run for their money when
they
co-headline
with them in the planned April + May tour. You can also
catch
the band
playing this year's With Full Force Festival. So check them
out if
you can
and certainly check their album out. By the way, their previous
release
"Loathesongs" has one of the coolest extreme covers of all time
in
my
hamble opinion (3 classical violinists performing, but the head of
the
male
violinist in the middle is rotten; probably a not so fresh import
from
the
local morgue! Ha ha!).
