REVIEW: Hanoi Rocks - People Like Me (EP) Akashic Rocks, 2002
6/10
Hanoi Rocks - People Like Me (EP) - cover art Hanoi Rocks, the Finnish band who inspired bands like Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe, are back once again to revive the glam rock of the 80s. When the band's drummer died in a car accident in the mid-80s they more or less broke up and now, eighteen years later, they feel that the time has come for a reunion. "People Like You" has already been released in Finland and immediately entered the top position of the national sales list. Unfortunately they don't quite make it into my top list because of several reasons: 1) they are unable to make exciting music, 2) they are playing mellow rock music, 3) only the first song is really good and the other three are rather boring to tell you the truth. Of course this is all because of me and I wouldn't like to make you hate this band just because of me. The opening track is actually very nice and it shows rock'n'roll á la Hanoi at its best. One good song out of four isn't enough though but if you enjoy mellow rock music you might want to check out Hanoi Rocks because they are close to legendary within their genre.
