The Swedish death / thrash metal band Maze Of Torment have released four albums so far which have been well received in the underground media. But before Maze Of Torment there was a band called Harmony that began in October 1992. They recorded two demos, three unofficial promos and the cassette "The Radiance From A Star" which was later on released by Arctic Serenades as a split cd with Serenades. The band broke up in March 1995 before having released a debut album. The Singapore based label Konqueror Records have now gathered the best material from the Harmony days for a cd release. The line-up back then was completely different than the present and only guitarist Peter Karlsson (aka Pete Flesh) and drummer Kjell Enblom remain from those days. The music was a little different as well. These demo tracks are generally a bit slower than the music Maze Of Torment, perhaps the result of limited instrumental skills in the band's early history. There are influences from black, death, thrash and even doom metal found in the songs which are rather diverse in their structure. It shows that Harmony took themselves serious though as all demo tracks where recorded in professional Swedish studios (Unisound and Underground). This material doesn't really stick out as exceptional today but there was quality in the band even back then and this collection serves mostly as a collector's item for extreme metal fans in general and Maze Of Torment fans in particular.
