Arf... what a strike... this is an all-senses demanding release, really! This promo came home some time ago and until now I hadn´t had enough time to get my ears and hands on it... the impressions have been quite intense. Havoc Unit is probably the closest form of sonic terrorism I´ve heard lately, a kommando in charge of unbridle havoc and turmoil, at least on your stereo, using as weapons their ramming industrial black/death metal, driven by apocalyptical rhythms, clean and strong production, weird atmosphere changes and ultra pounding bass – drums combo. Restless guitars and infernal vocals attack the listener with no remorse, pillaging his sanity and easily decimating any trace of calmness with its clockwork precision hi-tech sonic scalpel. I didn´t have the chance of reading the lyrics but they seem to be also in the destructive, chaos-like duty of the band concept. Strangely enough, black metallers ...And Oceans are behind this project, but their euphoric, almost happy fast-paced, synth-based black metal has now turned into an industrial blend, something looming in their last releases with the previous bandname. Now they are cleanly focused on other sonic territories and Havoc Unit are definitely here to conquer the throne –or annihilate every throne, should I say?-. Argh, albums like these are equally intriguing and effective taunting the psyche to anguish, erasing tranquillity and stirring one´s state of mind, leaving you exhausted. They obviously tried to achieve this, so they´ve succeeded, awaking the dormant chaos essence of the self... time for the post-industrial revolution? An anthem for the modern world´s end...
