REVIEW: Hellfueled - Born II Rock Black Lodge, 2005
8/10
Hellfueled - Born II Rock - cover art The Swedish band with the Ozzy clone Andy Alkman behind the microphone returns with their sophomore effort "Born II Rock". Last year's debut "Volume One" struck the hearts of many heavy metal fans all over the world and a national tour in support of Europe was sure to get the word around of their entrance onto the international metal scene for real. While I was not as starstruck as many others appear to have been by their debut album, I find the successor to be much more impressive and mature. Hellfueled have found their own unique sound which of course relies heavily on Alkman's vocals but he's not doing Ozzy all over again. Instead the Swedes have spiced up the old Sabbath sound with faster and more aggressive riffs and the vocals are also propelled by a more vibrant and powerful drive. There is plenty of energy and a very positive vibe present in the music of Hellfueled and even though the lyrics are incredibly boring and cliché I can't help but feel captured by their fresh and exciting sound. I will not exaggerate and raise this album to the skies but it is a good solid hard rock / heavy metal release that will definitely spread the Hellfueled name even further.
