Heretical exist since 1994, but this is their first published work after the band was forced to withdraw from the scene in 2001. The new MCD consists of only two tracks and intro plus outro. I guess that is rather short in order to get a complete opinion of the band. Still, it is obvious that Heretical loves it fast with lots of intensity and interesting guitar work. The drums are storming all the time and the guitars play interesting riffs, total BM assault in the vein of Emperor and similar bands. The vocals are both growls and classic BM screams. They fit very well with the music. The atmosphere is constantly kept high without some boring moments. Some part in that task goes to the smart use of keyboards and some samples. None of that is listed in the booklet, but it obviously is here. Although these two songs are not recorded in the same year they are very similar and represent the same period in the band's history. The production is quite ok on the first song, while it loses some of the power in the second song, which was recorded first, I guess. The outro track is a fragment taken from the movie "The Antichrist" and sounds very creepy. The cover is black and white, nicely designed. I would love if the band came forth with some more than only two songs, but I guess this will be ok for promotion of the band's return to the scene.
