A band called Hilderog from cold Iceland [Editor's comment: the band claims to be from Iceland but are probably from Lithuania]. An album artwork showing a gloomy iceberg and northern landscape. The album title 66,6°-Nord. What would you expect? -Right Hilderog plays Black Metal. More precisely: Black Metal dedicated to olden Norwegian masters in the period between 1990-1995.
The album 66,66°-Nord comes with the typical genre-sound: Kind of gloomy, raw, and grim. Pure trueness. Of course the music unleashes much fury and wrath, but unlike some other bands of that genre, it's not only constant blasting and butchery. 66,6°-Nord also contains heavy-weighting, cold melodies and omniously-watching slow parts. Musicwise it sometimes reminds of Darkthrone or Mayhem, but the vocals sound different.
The very impressing musical fact about Hilderog is, that all instruments are played by one man: Mastermind Ollathir. Particularly remarkable are the vocals: Great voice and very atmospherical on top of the music. By the way: The lyrics are all in the Icelandic language, which fits the songs very well.
In short: 66,6°-Nord by Hilderog seems to be a succeeded musical version of the cover picture: The gloomy, cold and lonely iceberg beneath an omnious cloudy sky.
