This band started in 1994 under the name of Vuzem. In 1999
they released a first album with Napalm named "Domus Mundi". In june 2001,
Hollenthon came back with this quite complex and fantastic album. Composed by
Martin Schirenc who plays guitar, bass, keyboard and also sings. The drums and
percussions are handled by a superb drummer by the name of Mike Groeger and
Elena Schirenc wrote the lyrics and does some singing too. This grandiose opus
is blending classical, prog, folk, death and doom in a magnificent way giving
it a somewhat Avant-gardiste feel. Available here for your hearing pleasure,
splendid choirs, awesome death vocals, great double bass drums (sounds
actually like a machine gun shooting from a tank), full orchestral sound,
strange melodic lines, gorgeous doom guitar riffs, folk music and violin
(synthetic but realistic). The eight crafty compositions included have all
nice twists and turns, changes of styles and never a dull moment. Some
highlights to look for are "Fire Upon The Blade" being a powerful symphonic
battle showing epic characteristics which ends in a most triumphant way. The
last composition is called "Conspirator" and God is it ever a good one! From
the superb intro made of amazing riffs installing a doom atmosphere on a
warrior hymn full of mysterious keyboard sections and majestic choirs, not to
forget also many pretty avant-gardiste interludes. Wow! What a pleasant grand
finale! The artwork of the booklet is highly artistic and mystically
attractive too. This one has to be in your collection or something will be
missing in your culture.
