Ever since the start in 1998 the Englishmen have been creating their own kind of metal music, and they have worked hard, which has given them a loyal fanbase and many great reviews of their records. “Forging Iron Will” is the band's third effort, not counting the various compilations they have participated on, and the first to be recorded in a professional studio. This to give the songs the proper sound when the earlier editions lacked in good production. Their music is thrash, very influenced by the American style, not meaning it's rap-metal or something like that though, with sometimes very harsh vocals contrasting the dominating melodic ditto in a very good way. The record starts off in a very high tempo grind / thrashing manner and at first I suspected there would be Corpsegrinder growling for the whole penny, but "of corpse" (hehe) I was wrong. Jason Hendry turned out to be a heck of a singer and he really elevates the music. There are many passages where you really can feel the power in the music, a power that the band wanted to be able to deliver with this better production. It still sounds like a low-budget recording but that's ok with me in this case. The grade means "interesting" and that is what I believe Honey For Christ are. They have a great sense of making good melodies and they're good in blending together the rough and raw with the anxious and awaiting tranquillity. Unfortunately it is hard though for bands in their genre to stick out and get some attention.
